Important Tylenol Update

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association voluntarily agreed to eliminate the product known as Tylenol (Acetaminophen) INFANT DROPS. All manufacturers of these drops have agreed to discontinue production. This product had a dropper that measured either 0.4 ml or 0.8 ml. From now on, there will be only one oral liquid Tylenol, or acetaminophen, product. This product will contain 160 mg/5 ml of acetaminophen. This will be available as the Tylenol brand or a store brand such as CVS or Wallgreens.

Therefore, dosing children with Tylenol (acetaminophen) may require you to adjust the amount of product that you give your child if you have previously used the Infant Drops.

In Pediatrics, we always base our dose of medication on the child’s weight. Please ask us for a dosage chart so that if you use Tylenol (acetaminophen) you will neither under dose or over dose your child. As always, feel free to call us for any concerns or questions about this.
