Dr. Albert G. Karam
Dr. Albert G. Karam is a board-certified pediatrician who has been serving the children of Dallas at his private practice for more than 35 years. Known affectionately as “Dr. Al, the Kiddie’s Pal,” Dr. Karam has been recognized by multiple organizations, including Best Doctors in America, Texas Monthly’s Texas Super Doctors, and D Magazine’s Best Pediatricians in Dallas. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical School, the first to receive this title in the history of the school. In addition, Dr. Karam has been a featured pediatric expert for multiple news outlets, including Newsweek, Good Morning Texas, Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, and the Dallas Morning News.
Dr. Karam was born and raised in rural South Louisiana. He completed his undergraduate studies with a degree in Chemistry from McNeese State University in 1977, and then attended Medical School at LSU Medical Center Shreveport. After graduating in 1981, he moved to Dallas where he received his pediatric training at Parkland Hospital and Children’s Medical Center. After one year of Internship and two years of Residency, he was asked to serve an additional year as Pediatric Chief Resident, teaching young residents and medical students and managing the house staff of the hospital.
Dr. Karam has been in private practice since 1985, spending one year at Medical City, then 14 years in Richardson. He has been at his present location just north of Medical City since October 2000.
Dr. Karam is married to Mary Emma Ackels, and together they have six children, five girls and one boy, and is a grandfather of nine!
